Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese form of energy healing that promotes deep relaxation and fast acting stress relief. It is generally regarded as a 'hands on healing' or 'palm healing' technique aimed at treating the whole person, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

Hand or palm healing has existed for thousands of years, and can be traced back to ancient civilisations such as the Romans, American Indians, Chinese as well as the Japanese and ancient India.

It wasn't until the early 20th century that reiki became more accessible due largely to a man by the name of Mikao Usui.

In a typical reiki treatment the client remains fully-clothed usually lying down, or sitting in the relaxing recliner. As your reiki practitioner I will harness reiki energy and radiate this energy through the palms in the form of heat, beginning a series of 12 to 15 hand positions that are either on or just above the body. The hands are then kept in traditional reiki positions for about 2 to 5 minutes, until the heat from the palms has stopped or is beginning to dissipate.

The most prominent thing you'll experience during a reiki treatment is the deep sense of peace and relaxation, and is not uncommon to even fall asleep during a reiki treatment.

Just for today, I will not anger.

Just for today, I will not worry.

Just for today, I will be grateful for all my blessings.

Just for today, I will work with honesty and integrity.

Just for today, I will be kind to all living beings.
